Quiet on the Western Front

What's up everyone? It's been all quiet on this end of things; putting my head down as I head into the business end of my university year then I'm off to Japan! Woo! I'm also undecided if I want to go NZHondas North Island Mega Meet on the 4th Nov - I'm unsure if my bank account will be very friendly for all those Japanese goodies I'll be purchasing. Rest assured, anything cool will be posted on my FB page, so keep an eye on that! I'm hoping the weather is as stunning as it is now in Wellington, if this is anything to go by, summer will be a scorcher!! 180SX @ Oriental Parade IMG_0034 Look at that huh? More of this please!

Japan

I shall be heading over to Japan over the summer months for a wee while and I really have no idea where I should be looking - where's good and what should I buy? Bare in mind, I don't have a huge amount of space

The Inaugural Photoshoot

This year, Wellington has had its share of extreme weather - today being no different. It was a warm, breezy Spring day and I've (hastily) called for some friends to come together for a nice little photoshoot and a cruise afterwards. Yes, this is Green Sticker Society, and yes we got someone with a Green sticker. IMG_0603 It was unfortunate and badly timed. However, it is simply life and one can learn from their mistakes (like putting their seatbelt on). Without further adieu, I shall present some pictures. For full resolution, click on any photo or HERE. IMG_0606 Mat's very, very clean example of a 180SX. Somewhat jealous of his car. IMG_0612 Want that CF centre garnish... IMG_0615 However, I have a front lip :P IMG_0619 Dom's S15 - nice and tidy. Subtle bits and bobs. IMG_0621 IMG_0622 IMG_0623 Flatpeak spoiler and D-max tail lights. Choice. IMG_0628 Green stickered car in question - Nimesh's S13. Daily driven at this height. Like a boss IMG_0634 Can you say flush? IMG_0637 IMG_0636 IMG_0639 Interior to die for. This is what I have hopefully waiting for me in the near future, my Bride fabric arrived in the country in the last few days. I was quite stoked about that, hopefully I can find someone to cut and fit it for me. IMG_0640 Mr. RKLESS - once again, daily driven at this height and never afraid of a bit of RKLESS driving. IMG_0645 Tough. IMG_0643 IMG_0669 Realising the amount of S-chassis win we had, I sought to line us all up. We almost had the order right... IMG_0663 IMG_0671 IMG_0685 IMG_0680 IMG_0681 Credit must be given to James "AE86" Blance also (check out his cool blog/build thread here) for these pics whilst I was moving cars and helping set up IMG_0649 IMG_0650 IMG_0652 IMG_0653 IMG_0654 IMG_0655 IMG_0656 IMG_0657 IMG_0659 I look REAL mad up in hurr. IMG_0660 IMG_0661 IMG_0662 Real retard. As the sun dropped lower, we sought for warmth and a cruise! IMG_0687 IMG_0689 IMG_0692 There's not much to say as the pictures say it all. Thanks for all who turned up and made it a good day. I had fun shooting cars, and I hope for the next round for newer, fresher and doper cars than ever. Look forward to seeing you all next time IMG_0670 Yemo.

Mini-meet 1st Sept

IMG_0600 Gathering on a still (very rare for Wellington) Thursday night amongst friends; nice cars were the order for the day. I naturally didn't clean my car because I keep forgetting to and find myself not wanting to either especially at 4pm in the afternoon when you remember you're meant to be going to a meet that night. IMG_0590 IMG_0596 IMG_0592 Facelift Integra, hard to come by with the bugeye. IMG_0583 Balla status IMG_0582 IMG_0581 IMG_0578-2

Manfeild: My first outing

For someone who writes a blog (at least tries to), one would think that they would at least be knowledgeable and understanding of what they are writing or talking about and have had at least enough experience in that hobby to be able to say "yep, I've done that". The weekend that has just passed, I have broken my track virginity, and set myself loose to have some fun and just get some seat time.

However, my efforts were cut short early, suffering from (at the time of writing this post) coil pack failure on one of the four. I sounded like a tractor/Subaru on boost as I was choking at 5000rpm. This forced me to retire mid day despite only having one full session (running a 1:35 for my second lap on the track as my best), then two limped sessions just to see if my problem was going to improve.

Full set of day's photos can be found here. A big thanks must go out to Lauren, my lovely girlfriend, for taking majority of the photos. Although watermarked as mine, I'll make sure she gets credit for the photos that she took, which were all very good!

Waiting for scruntineering - passed easy!

IMG_0405
The sound of it coming on boost and with the external wastegate open, it was glorious.

IMG_0397
V8 MX8 - who can say no? End of the day, he put on his slicks and blew past some serious cars.

IMG_0420
Want.

IMG_0422
Tony's f***ing quick EF Civic. He has been racing this track since a very young age, and knows it like the back of his hand.

IMG_0423
Some of the local drifters hitting up a grip event with the closure of Slipway in Wellington still being an issue. Not to say no drifting occurred on track that day...

IMG_0414
This car doesn't get to run more than one, not even finishing his lap. Blowing his gearbox to smithereens!

IMG_0435
This was serious. The sound of it flying past you at 200kph+ is something you don't forget quickly.

IMG_0430
Notice the midmount steering column. This was loud too, I've never seen such an incredible car, although, it does race in GTNZ.

IMG_0439
The calm before the storm.

IMG_0442
First proper run of the day.

IMG_0449
By far the loudest car out there, this flying brick was not to be sneezed at. Running very good times (albeit very noisily) throughout the day.

IMG_0461
Lining up!

IMG_0463

IMG_0459
View from the front. My friend Andrew in the Civic ran blistering times (1:25~); for someone who's been on Manfeild once prior, that is very, very impressive.

IMG_0464
Mmmm...

IMG_0477
And away I go!

IMG_0491
I am a fan of this S13, have seen it another photoshoot, it is a drift weapon but driver has skill and held his own out there.

IMG_0492
Amazing cars with the Evo was very quick around the track

IMG_0493
Another shot of the Porsche as it was rolling out of it's pit after being set up on the day.

IMG_0496
Nom

IMG_0511
This ran in the Rookie class with me as well, from what I heard, it was using the track time as teething time. I found his build on oldschool - Build thread

IMG_0535

IMG_0503
Would hate to think how cold that must be. Then again, the adrenaline rush that one would get from driving that! Even I was all smiles behind my helmet as I was blasting off around the track.

IMG_0547
Andrew blasting ahead, blitzing a turbo R33 along the way during the day! Well done man.

IMG_0545
Photo of Tony and his EF again. Nom.

Be sure to check out my friend Lawrence and his photos here, he covers lots of car related events, including Manfeild. Hopefully, I'll be back out there soon!
